Long Time No See

Well, I meant to write this post a while ago but getting hit by a car has put a halt on several projects I've been working on. One such project was getting my tattoo (I got hit by the car about an hour before my appointment), so no new tattoo yet. The weekend before the accident, a bunch of us Bloomingtonites went to see a "professional" wrestling match. When Jared first brought it up, I refused to go. But after much persistence, Jared won and I finally agreed to attend the match. Best decision I ever made. My camera died before any of the wrestling action began - but here are some cool pics of us having tons of fun!

The wrestling was top-notch, for real. Well, at least it was entertaining. And one of the wrestlers fell out of the ring onto a small child, which terrified the poor thing. After one of the matches, our friend Dylan threw a glow stick onto the ring and got kicked out by a security guard with a speech impediment. The rest of us decided to leave, too, just to stick it to the man for Dylan getting kicked out. Sadly I dropped my camera on the way out and had to go back inside to ask the security guard for it (after several of us yelled at the security guards for kicking him out). Once outside, we ran into one of the wrestlers, who called himself a reptilian from the 4th dimension. He had a lot of awesome things to say, which I think were captured on a youtube and posted on facebook for the world to see. You should check it out. That guy sure knows how to party.

Lastly, this is what I wore to the wrestling match. I wore it out shopping with Jared that day and loved it so much I wanted to share it with you. Sadly I had too many layers on for the match and got a little sweaty. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving - and don't forget to look both ways before you cross the street! (just for the record, I did look both ways. the car just didn't see me. hopefully we get rich from this and can go on carnival cruises every weekend).

Christmas Part II

I thought you might be interested in the finished products of Jared's decorating:

Some of the bulb ornaments no longer had a hook for hanging, so Jared stuck them on the ends of the tree branches. And yes, that is a Muppet Baby on the top of the Christmas tree.

Jared also says that Jesus is for all people, including Bullwinkle and professional wrestlers.

Tis the season to celebrate!

Bloomington Handmade Market

My friend Gaby and I attended the Handmade Market this weekend and found some lovely treasures. There were so many things I wanted to buy! Unfortunately I'm not made of money so I had to limit myself to just a couple goodies:
A ball jar with a polka dot pin cushion on top? Genius! I keep dreaming about all the things I can store in there!

A distressed metal necklace with religious characters? Lovely!

I am preparing for the great tattoo adventure with Samantha this weekend. We stopped by the tattoo shop today to ask questions and get some info. I am currently looking for the best images to take to them so they can draw it all together for me. I am very excited but also really nervous because I know this one is going to hurt more than the baby Indiana outline on my ankle! I can't wait to show you what it looks like..... if you want to hold my hand, feel free to tag along. I need all the support I can get!

Also, my grandma recently came across this amazing find and gave it to me! It's a vintage fold-out sewing box with all kinds of lovely things inside!

My grandma was thrilled about all the different color thread she found in there! She also included a new pair of scissors, several elastic bands, two thimbles, a seam ripper, and several bobbins. Now I need to figure out what is wrong with my sewing machine so I can use it all! Have a great week! And pray for me to be strong while I'm getting tattooed, or "mutilating my body" as my aunt likes to say.

Christmas at the Cheeks'

You must be thinking, Christmas already? Well, when you are married to Jared Cheek, the Christmas season begins right after Halloween. We need to have at least two months of celebrating before we take the decorations down. So today Jared started putting up our Christmas tree. Of course, we had a Christmas movie playing while he worked.

With all the excitement, King James started freaking out a little....

I hope your weekend has been as festive as mine! Yesterday was the Bloomington Handmade Market. I bought a few goodies, which I plan to post later. We also played a sweet house show last night in Lafayette. Jess met a cat in the road she wanted to steal, even though it was clear the cat belonged to a house nearby. So if you have a cat, keep it indoors, otherwise Jess will steal it and bring it home! Happy Christmas season!

It's So Cold in the B (How the F are we sposed to keep peace?)

Remember my orangey sweater I wore a while back? I put it to more use today with even more layers! I'm soooo excited about jackets and sweaterrrz. Everyone is complaining about the cold weather but I'm relishing it! I was made for colder climates. (Sorry I couldn't get the whole outfit in the picture, I'm not very good at taking photos all by myself + the Rodeo guys were practicing and wouldn't take it for me).

So I have an interview set up for Monday at the IU Office of Alternative Screening and Intervention Services (i.e. kids who get in trouble for making bad choices and have to be sent to a therapist). The woman I might be working with got her degree at IUPUI while commuting to and from Indy and I think will be super helpful in working around my work and class schedule. I'm really excited! Hopefully it will work out and I can straighten out a few unruly college kids (or at least do some shredding for the office workers).

Hope you all have a great week and do some serious partying!

Grad School Sucks

It really does. Being in school hinders me from doing the things I really want to do, like hangin' with budz or watching Glee all day long. Instead, I have to stay locked in my room working on homework. Next semester I start my first practicum, which has had me stressin' out. I'm not sure how people survive this program while working full-time, but I guess I'll find out soon enough. I got an email today about a possible practicum placement at IU, working with students who get in trouble for doing too many drugs and making bad choices. I'm pretty excited about the prospect, especially because I already know some of the therapists that work there! So wish me luck. Hopefully I don't die in the process of working 40 hours a week, spending 16-20 hours at a practicum, and taking a class (homework included). So, think twice about going to grad school. Your social life will come to a stand still.
