Sets of Keys...

Hi! We get the keys to our house TODAY!!!!! I can't wait to go inside and take lots of pictures and post them just for you. I especially can't wait to get a picture of Zack's room, which is blue, with one wall of rainbow wallpaper. I think he will really like it. Also my kitchen is pink, with blue and gray tile. Yikes! I'm just so excited to have the following things: central air, a laundry room, a dishwasher, a porch, a yard, lots of kitchen cabinets, a ton of counter space, two bathrooms, two showers, a giant garage, a driveway, a guest bedroom/study, and a room dedicated only for ALL OF JARED'S THINGS. That's right, he will have his own back room/storage space to put all of his things out of my sight.

In other news, my brother is in California, climbing giant trees and hanging out in the ocean with the Rodeo boys. They have had an interesting tour so far. My sister Breezey is in France now. She told me last week she doesn't get sick on planes (making fun of me for throwing up every time I'm on a plane), then she got sick on ALL of her flights to France. I think it's poetic justice. That's what she gets for making fun of me. She lives right by the beach and is getting her "bronze on" every day. I hope she's wearing a little bit of sunscreen.

My intern at work (she's amazing) planned a retreat for our lady residents last week. We canoed, hiked, played games outside, and ate a delicious meal together. It was very nice. One of the women asked me, "Annie, why don't you like the sun?" after I offered her sunscreen. I'm not sure why people think I don't like the sun. Really, the sun doesn't like ME. I'm still as white as could be.

I hope your summer is going well. I'm not keeping up with my blogging and exercising goals as well as I could be. I'll try harder. Today is beautiful and not too hot so I will cherish this day in my heart.

P.S. I got new glasses. They are very librarian chic if you ask me.

Sisterz

I'm attempting to write this post with dialated eyeballs and a smashed pinky. Please excuse any mispelled words, as I can't see the letters on the screen very well and don't have much feeling in my pinky right now. This weekend I traveled to Fairmount to see my lovely sisters, Breezey and Cassie. Breeze is gearing up to go to France for school and will be gone for sevearl weeks. Saturday morning we walked around downtown Fairmount, looking for treasures at the thrift and antique stores. We found some cool stuff at the thrift store:Just a couple cutesy dresses and some sweet sweet belts, including the bright blue one that Breeze found. Cassie said it looked like a headband a wrestler would wear. Sadly the only thing at the antique store was an odd smell that made Breezey feel sick. So we left. Breezey and I then went to the beauty school in Marion and got our toes done for cheap! It was super fun. We then traveled to Meijer, where I found all the beauty supplies I could ever want and some super fun hats. I made Breezey's dreams come true when I bought the floppy hat for her to wear on the beach when she is in France.
Also while in Meijer, an old lady crept up behind me and said, "Nice outfit for a hot day." I didn't think she was talking to me since I couldn't see her; however, she repeated herself, so I turned around to find out she was looking right at me. I said, "Oh, me?" She said, "Yeah, short skirt. It's nice on a hot day." I was a little creeped out and had some second thoughts about my outift. Ultimately, I decided she was right. I just wish she hadn't said that while creeping up behind me. Also, I'm sort of wishing I had bought the hat I'm wearing in the picture.

Breeze and I then rented some movies and finally met up with the Cass attack for some dinner. We hung out at the Pizza Hut, where Cassie ended up knowing everyone. We ate some really good deep dish dinner snacks and headed home to watch some movies. We put Whip It in first, because I wanted my sisters to understand Roller Derby since it's my new favorite sport. While watching the movie, Cassie dyed Breezey's hair. Cassie requested several towels so our mother wouldn't yell at us for dyeing her hair in the living room, on the very white carpet, and I felt it was important to make sure we got some of those towels in the picture below. Cassie also made fun of the cool belt we found at the thrift store, so we had to get that in as well. Aren't we so adorable? I do love my sisters.
Well, I hope your weekend was as fun as mine, and that you remembered to call your dad on Father's Day. All three sisters sang a song in church as our Father's Day gift to our dad. We had him in tears! Lastly, I managed to stop by Circle Centre Mall, met up with Jess, and did some light shopping. Maybe not so light, but everything I bought at H&M was on the clearance rack, so I feel better about it. I'll be sure to post some pictures of my new gems soon.

Hallelujah

The air is back on! I'm celebrating by wearing pants. Actually I came in this morning and it was freezing in the office. I checked the thermostat, and someone had turned it all the way to like 20 degrees! I think that happened sometime when we were trying to figure out what was wrong with the AC. So I'm very glad I brought a sweater along, just in case.

Recently (like within the last week) the picture text messaging feature began working on my cellular telephone. I got so excited, I've been sending lots of picture texts. I came up with a new game with Tara, in which we only send pictures to each other (no words) and we have to guess what the pictures mean. Doesn't that sound fun? Yesterday I started with a picture of my kitty cat wearing a diet coke can as a hat. He actually let me put it on his head and didn't move. What a champ! Anyway, I don't know if I can get the picture off my phone and onto the internet, since I don't have the webbies on my phone, but if you want to participate in this awesome new game, please feel free to send me a picture textie on my telephone.

The heat wave of 2010

Well, the air conditioning has stopped working in my office. It has literally been 90 degrees or more in my office every day. Most of you know I hate summer and I hate summer clothes even more, but in this case, I have been forced to wear the most summery attire I own! I've literally worn summer dresses with little bitty straps and tank tops each day to work. Normally I would feel weird about showing that much skin (or my bra straps, which happened to be hanging out of one of the dresses) at work, but I have decided that I DO NOT CARE. Not when it's sweltering in my freaking office. So I have been forced to break my own code of conduct and dress like a hussy. If it's not fixed by tomorrow, can I just refuse to come to work? Surely this is a violation of something!

On a much better note, I had an interesting weekend with a string of wonderful events. First, Jared and I attended a Roller Derby bout here in Bloomington! It was super fun! My co-worker Sarah, uh, I mean Sadie MacDeath debuts later this summer. Sadly she has not completed her bio on the website yet! Please get on that Sadie. If you haven't gone to a bout, check out their website for the next home bout, which I think is in July. If you don't know what Roller Derby is, watch the movie Whip It starring Ellen Page, Drew Barrymore, and Kristen Wiig. It's a super fun movie that also explains a lot about how the game works. On Sunday, Jared and I attended a show at the Bishop, featuring Damien Jurado and Denison Witmer. I actually got to meet both of them and sort of freaked out a little on the inside (I really like their music). If you haven't heard their music, please check check check it out!

Ok that's all for now. Have a great week and enjoy your air conditioning.

A new look

Blogspot keeps coming up with better and better templates! Welcome to the new Annie Cheekbones, hope you like the new look. A while back, my friend Jennie emailed me about the Uniform Project. This gal wore the same uniform dress every day for a whole year in order to raise money for kids who can't afford to go to school. I love this project! It's like fashion and social work all rolled into one. Check out the website and the video, which shows each outfit for every day of the year and all her crazy accessories. Have a great weekend!

Well hello again!

My friend Tara reminded me today that it has been weeks since my last post! Yikes! Sorry for the delay, I know all of you have been hooked to your computer just waiting for my next entry. Well, to sum things up - May is over. Hallelujah. I thought I'd leave you with some highlights for the last few weeks. As you know, I started school in mid-May. It has been a rather difficult transition, filled with late nights and early mornings. I have difficulty not sleeping all day on the weekends! On May 26th we closed on our house!!! The sellers were kind of emotional during the closing and the wife started crying while we were signing the papers (they've been there 50 years!). That was slightly uncomfortable, but they are incredibly nice and want us to stop by so they can show us how to use the fireplace and the retractable awning they put over the deck (yes, it is retractable). The sellers are renting the house from us for the month and will be out by June 27th, which is when we will finally be able to move in! I can't wait! Our apartment is so small and has too many bugs (I had to wake up Jared this morning to kill a chubby furry spider in the bathroom. but he was too late and the spider got away!).

That weekend, Rodeo played several release shows, celebrating the release of our new album and the kick-off of their summer-long tour. My sister Breezey sang with us (we had some pretty rad 3-part harmonies), so we decided to wear matching dresses. For the first two shows we wore the bridesmaid dresses from my wedding - here is a lovely photo:
It was super hot and terrible in the venue so Breeze and I were sweating profusely! I had to keep my handkerchief with me so I could blot the sweat off my face. Next, Jared and I traveled down to Lexington, KY for my friend Alicia's wedding. It was a lovely time, we got to see several of my dear friends from college! Here are some of my lady friends with the beautiful bride:
Oh yeah, we're just chillin' in front of the Hummer Limo, which took the wedding party to the reception:
This is Jared and me at the reception - we're just so in love.
Oh, and here is a photo of my best dance move all night: yes, that's an American flag, and yes that is Joel's ass.
Sadly, we had to return to Bloomington the next day for another release show, which also happened to be my birthday! Breezey drove down early and took me shopping! She bought both of us new matching dresses! What a birthday! Then I got to the venue to find that my brother had decorated it with signs and birthday hats! Each guy in the band bought me a present - 4 cases of Diet Coke and 1 Hannah Montana microphone headset (from Kyle, could you guess?). It was pretty wonderful. Here are the matching dresses (please excuse my general redness/sweatiness/fatness):

It was a crazy weekend full of friends and surprises! I can't wait to tell you more! I'll make a concerted effort to be a better blogger in the coming weeks. I only have 2 more weeks of my summer class left, and then I'm free to party until Fall semester starts. I'm hoping to get the fashion blog figured out during that time. Oh, and also - Jess watched Twilight AND New Moon this weekend and is totally HOOKED. That's right. Team Edward all the way.
