Announcement!

If you haven't heard already, the Clothing Swap has been officially scheduled! My friend Katrina and I have decided to merge this long-awaited event with another totally awesome event - a HAIR CUT PARTY!! Doesn't this sound like the best night you've had in a long while? Well, if you haven't received an invite yet, this is it. The Hair Cut Party/Clothing Swap will be held at Katrina's home on Saturday, March 26th. The party will start at 6 pm and goes until 10 pm (or whenever we are partied out). If you'd like to come, let me know!!

Life continues to be insanely busy, of course. Monday I helped put together a forum about problem gambling and college students at my practicum (which is why I'm wearing a name tag in this picture). I needed to look professional, so of course I went for a plaid pencil skirt. I really liked this outfit - but I had one major clothing malfunction. Every time I leaned forward, my mo pants caused the zipper of my skirt to go down! Yikes! I think it's time to start exercising. I can't let these mo pants get too out of control!

I accidentally turned on the self-timer on the camera, so while Jared was trying to take my picture, the camera went nuts and started taking all these pictures in a row! Unfortunately that is what created this face. After all the fuss with the self-timer, Jared was done taking pictures, so I didn't get any close ups of all the fun things that were going on in this outfit (like elbow pads on my sweater and bright purple tights)! Also - my head looks HUGE!

I hope you have better luck with your pictures and that the tickle in the back of my throat doesn't cause me (and all my friends) to get sick. I'll be sure to load up on Vitamin C.

I love Glee and bows and boots and belts

Last night I attempted to watch some Glee while doing homework. Somehow I manage to talk myself into this often... my reasoning being that I've seen the episodes before so I will be able to concentrate on my homework. This is not at all accurate. It doesn't really matter how many times I have seen the episodes, I still want to watch them! So homework doesn't happen. If you are familiar with the show, you know the guidance counselor Emma. She is so adorable! Watching Glee always inspires me to wear something with a gigantic bow, which inspired half of my outfit for today:
The other half of my outfit was inspired by Kendi Everyday. That girl sure knows how to work a blazer! She often pairs skinny belts with blazers, which I never really thought about before! I love stealing other people's ideas.

I also really love pairing red with yellow... and green. Yes my belt is kind of green. Do you like my self portraits? Jared will typically agree to take one picture. The rest are up to me.

Who knew K-Mart could be so hip? I really love these little booties!

I am currently contacting many of you about the clothing swap. I'm hoping to have it within the next few weeks. I'll let you know when I have a date that works out. If I didn't get you on Facebook and you wanna be a part of it - let me know! Let's get our party on gurrrlz!!

Spring is almost here...

With the warmer temperatures last week, I decided to stash away my winter coats and vowed to only wear my spring jackets. Actually, my winter coats are falling apart and I really like my spring jackets - so I've been wearing them despite the 20 degree weather. Then today - it's 60 degrees outside! Oh how I love Indiana. So full of surprises.

Speaking of surprises - I bought this polka dot skirt to wear to a friend's wedding at the end of January and had a heck of a time figuring out what to wear with it. When I originally bought it I thought it would be super easy. The weekend of the wedding came and I found myself unable to find the right cardigan to wear with it - thankfully Jessica was there to save the day with this one! I never would have thought to put the two together, but I really like how it turned out. So I recreated some of the outfit to wear to work last week and this is the final product! I felt so fancy wearing this cardigan!

And of course, I needed to pair it with some fancy floral tights (K-Mart special.. sorry you can't see the pattern so well).

Last night Rodeo played a show in Cincinnati. For some reason we played at 1 am, after the main band played - which caused us to get home around 5:30 this morning! You know I don't do late nights so well.... needless to say I'm pretty tired today. Unfortunately I have a bunch of homework to do, so no naps for me. I hope your weekend was great and full of the rest I didn't get! Enjoy the spring weather while it lasts!

V Day!!

Happy V Day friends! I meant to wear all red and pink today but I totally forgot it was Valentine's Day and I wore blue and brown instead. Boring, right? I was a little upset with myself for forgetting. One of my lady clients tried to convince me to go home and change because she was so upset I forgot! My main man Jared took me to the exotic town of Indianapolis for our own celebration. He loves hotels and I love malls so he found us a hotel that was connected to the mall. It was great not having anything to do - we just hung out watching cable television and eating snacks. We then went to the mall, where I was allowed to buy several new clothing items. The next day we went to four flea markets so Jared could peruse through hundreds of records. Have you noticed that walking into a flea market is like walking into a whole new world? I felt like a lot of people (ladies, in particular) were staring at me for not wearing sweatpants or a velour tracksuit, or for not having any facial piercing (mainly eye brow piercings). Apparently I don't quite belong in their world. I did get a great little pair of cameo earrings that I can't wait to wear!

Well Jared also offered to cook me anything I wanted for a romantic and delicious Valentine's dinner. He also promised to make it in the shape of a heart. I requested teryiaki chicken because it sounded sooooo good and I couldn't figure out how he would make it heart-shaped. This is what I came home to:
Jared made some "love bread" by frying up some corn tortillas and cut them into heart shapes. He also presented me with a gift (pictured below). Jared said he bought this for my birthday last year, then forgot he had it, lost it, and recently found it again.
In case you can't quite read it, the mug says, "Annie Bones since 1984." Yes, not only did he give me a birthday mug, but he also engraved it himself. Isn't that precious? What a man I've got (and Tara, you better keep your paws off)!

In addition to all these lovely things, my mother sent The Cheek/Melton household a Valentine package in the mail containing love cookies, brownies, and an apple pie. Who knew you could mail pies? Well, Mama Melton sure does. I hope your Valentine's Day was full of mail pies, love bread, and forgotten birthday mugs. Don't forget to tell your friends and families that you love them!

P.S. Those of you who have caught me watching Roswell lately might get a kick out of this:

King James loves watching Roswell, too!

Back in the ballgame? Maybe?

Well I promised myself I would post pictures of this outfit because I really like it. Jared promised to take my picture when I got home from work, but unfortunately he was asleep when I got home. I tried talking to him but he was pretty incoherent and did not understand what was happening. He asked me 3 times where I had just come from (work), so I think he is confused about what day/time it is. I decided to let him sleep and tried something new. Since I don't have a tripod for my camera, I thought I'd try out using my ole' macbook to take pictures. Here are the results:
Not great quality - but they're better than nothing, right??!! Right???!!!!

Remember when wearing black and brown together was a faux pas? Aren't you so glad you can wear them together now? I really love brown belts with black skirts. I really do.

Oh, here are my danglies. You know how I love 'em.

Today my physical therapist gave me an ultrasound - on my shoulder. Apparently the sound waves go into your tissues and promote healing. Who knew? Oh, and in case you were wondering - there were no babies in there. In my shoulder, I mean. Good thing. Also - did you watch the superbowl? It was a bit disappointing, no crazy stunts or exciting plays. I actually worked on homework during the game, then made fun of the Black Eyed Peas for sounding kind of terrible. Whoever was running sound for that event shouldn't get paid. Yikes.
Lastly, a while back I mentioned having a clothing swap. Yesterday I cleaned out my closet (well, most of it) and have an overflowing laundry basket full of clothes I need to give away. Let's set a date and swap our clothes! February is already a little crazy for me, but I'd totally be into an early March swap. Want to? Do you? You should! Let's work it out.

Frands

Well, turns out I'm real bad at being a blogger. Lately I have been busy with school, work, bands, buds, and having total melt downs from trying to manage all these things. I even threw a tantrum! I actually yelled, stomped into my bedroom, threw myself onto my bed, and covered my head with my blankets. Isn't that so sad? You'd think by now I could handle stress well. I mean, I'm a social worker, right? This shows me I don't handle the stress so well and how much I need to take a 2 week long vacation (which won't happen until school is done in 2012). I also started physical therapy this week, for my stupid shoulder which has been hurting since the pre-Thanksgiving car accident. Needless to say, I'm pretty busy.

On Friday Rodeo played a show at the Earth House in Indy. Some of my grad school friends even came out for the show! I celebrated by eating a pizza, dancing, then drinking a latte (in that order). Thankfully I didn't throw up everywhere (like I deserved). Saturday I threw a tantrum, watched Party Down, fell asleep, and then went to the Pro Wrestling show with some pals. One of the matches included 3 ladders of different sizes and a briefcase with something important in it; however, the match took so long that at the end I couldn't remember what was supposed to be in the briefcase. I was also stressed out the entire time thinking the gigantic ladder was going to fall down onto people in the crowd. Thankfully everyone came out alive and a wrestler named Havoc came over to thank us for being such a great crowd. He even took off his shirt for us. So magical. After the wrestling we headed over to the Adams' house for the annual Vollmorr party (David Orr and Nathan Vollmor's birthdays). We had some major laughs and two hilarious games going on at the same time - truth or dare in the kitchen and pict-o-phone in the living room. It was difficult to concentrate at times. All in all, a good weekend with friends.

Some day I hope to remember to take pictures of my outfits for this blog. Until then, you will be stuck with my sporadic posts about daily life. Hopefully I will not have any more tantrums to report.

A brand new year

Well, it's 2011 and I've decided to party like it's 2012. Since the world is ending next year, I thought I'd start this year out with a bang and chop my hair off (again). This afternoon my friend Katrina had a hair cutting party at her lovely home, and boy did I get my hair did! Even Jess cut her hair off! I figure since the world ends in 2012 I might as well party as much as I can. So here are some pics from our partay.

We're so excited about our new cuts!!!

Oh hey, it's just me.

You can see more pics from our party on the ole Facebook. I've been thinking a lot about a New Year's Resolution and finally came to a conclusion. I plan to memorize all the In The Face of War lyrics for their last show in May. I figure I have enough going on in life that making difficult resolutions is just not in the cards for me. Learning ITFOW lyrics is about all I can handle - plus I'll have a lot of alone time in the car driving to and from class this semester! Have you made one yet??
